Abma Schreurs Advocaten Notarissen
Tt Vasumweg 44,
Abma Schreurs Solicitors and Civil Law Notaries operates from three locations in Amsterdam and the near vicinity of Amsterdam (Hoorn and Purmerend). The attorneys work together in units, according to their specialisation in a particular field of law: Company Law and Insolvency, Contracts, Real Estate and Administrative Law, Employment, and Family Law, all in close cooperation with the civil law notaries of the firm. Within those units, cases are handled by experts, with the aid of all-rounders from the general practice. The firm has a legal staff of approximately 30 attorneys and civil law notaries.
Avrio-Advocati: international cooperation
For many years now, Abma Schreurs has formed part of the Avrio-Advocati international network of lawyers and civil-law notaries.
With Avrio-Advocati as an experienced network of medium-sized firms of lawyers and notaries, we share the same focus – to help companies operating at the international level to gain access to the domestic markets of the countries where the firms are based, and to assist their ‘own’ group of clients in all the legal aspects that come into play when doing business abroad.
For entrepreneurs with small or medium-sized business, entering into contracts abroad, setting up a business outside the Netherlands, or becoming part of a collaborative partnership with foreign companies can offer hugely inspiring and lucrative opportunities. The world is becoming smaller all the time: foreign countries no longer feel so far away. However, taking that first step can be difficult, especially for small and medium-sized businesses. Challenges are to be relished, of course, and indeed essential for any ambitious entrepreneur, but nobody wants to embark on an adventure that does not lead them anywhere. Avrio-Advocati and Abma Schreurs are here to prevent this from happening.
The 35 offices of the professionally run network know each other well and in many cases their cooperative relationship goes back many years. Abma Schreurs has been a member of Avrio-Advocati since 1992 and is on the board of directors. Meetings are held every six months, at which current legal information and knowledge about each member’s home market is shared. This means that the participating offices know which office has the required expertise for each of the countries involved, enabling them to point their clients to a lawyer in the country in question. It also ensures that foreign companies are served with the best possible advice about their investments and about legal and fiscal matters in relation to the local market.
It is against this background that Abma Schreurs has assisted, and still assists, clients from abroad during international takeovers, when facing difficulties claiming payments, and with questions about contracts. At the same time, we provide our Dutch clients with solutions for their plans and activities abroad by referring them to a reliable and expert office. In many cases, if our Dutch clients request it, we continue to guide the process, as a ‘translator’ of their wishes and questions to the specific legal situation abroad.
You are always welcome to contact us with any questions. If you would like to know more about how Abma Schreurs and Avrio-Advocati can assist you and your company, please contact Felix Groot.
